Digital Advertising and Marketing: What is a Native Ad?
A Native Ad is advertisement that doesn’t necessarily look like it is an ad at first glace. Native Ads tend to naturally blend into the content where advertisement lives. According to EMARKETER, “Native advertising is a type of paid advertisement that takes on the look and feel of its environment. A native ad will relate to the topic(s) of the surrounding content so as not to disrupt the consumers’ overall experience on a given platform.” (Source: EMARKETER Native advertising: What it is and how it benefits advertisers and publishers)
Below is a Native Ad that I was recently served on LATimes.com for “Travel Wisconsin”
According to a report published by EMARKETER, “Native advertising: What it is and how it benefits advertisers and publishers”, “EMARKETER estimates that $80.39 billion will be spent on native display ads on social media, while less than $30 billion will be put toward nonsocial native displays ads.“ (Source: EMARKETER Native advertising: What it is and how it benefits advertisers and publishers)
Native ads can be purchased via Ad Networks such as Google Ads, on Social Media platforms, and directly through premium content publishers.
