A great Digital Marketing Campaign has a few key ingredients that make it an overall success.  A successful Digital Marketing campaign takes time to build.  It is important to make sure that your Digital Marketing campaigns have all the below key ingredients to make the campaign an overall success.

Excellent Research

The start of anything that truly holds value beings with research.  Research is the foundation of a successful campaign because it allows you to build your strategy and learn where your opportunities are.  Before you begin your digital marketing campaign, you should know everything there is to know about your product, its consumers, and your competitors.  A few thought staters:

  1. What are the strengths of your product or services?  What are the weaknesses?  Where do opportunities lie for your product, and where are your threats?

  2. Who uses your product or services?  What are the habits of your consumer?

  3. Who are your competitors?  What are the messages of your competitors?  Where are competitors advertising?  What are the strengths and weaknesses of your competitors?

  4. Who is your Target Audience?  What are their behavioral habits and attitudes of your target?  Where does your Target Audience spend most of their time online?

  5. What are the goals of target, and how do you help them reach their goals?

  6. What will grab the attention of your intended consumer?

The goal is to know as much about your product and its competitors so that to can find where your opportunities lie in growing your product and reaching your intended consumer.  Do research online- there are a ton of tools are your disposal.  Hold focus groups to get real time feedback from your intended consumer.  All of this information if valuable, and will help you build a solid Digital Marketing Campaign.

Brilliant Strategy

Now that you have done your research, it’s time to strategize.  Given what you know about your target audience and potential consumer, what is the best way to reach them?  What types of messages will get their attention?  Is it while they are binge watching their favorite TV show, or is it while they are shopping for similar products on Amazon?  Or will you best get your consumer’s attention while they are scrolling through Tik Tok feeds or on Facebook?  Use your research to formulate a plan on the best way to reach your intended consumer and resonate with them.

Great Creative and Brand Messaging

Creative and overall messaging can make or break your campaign.  If you have a great product, but your creative and messaging are off and does not resonate with your target audience, you are going to lose your consumer.  Always remember that just because you have a creative and are throwing money behind it doesn’t necessarily make it effective.  This means that you must put time and effort into research (back to the first point) to find out what matters to your consumers and generate creative and messaging that will resonate with them.

The right Digital Content Partners

Choosing the right content partners goes back to research.  What type of content is your intended customer consuming?  Where do they spend most of their time?  And where will they see and remember your ad?  If you are looking to reach Gen Z, advertising on Facebook would likely be a poor content partner choice.  However, if your target is Millennials or Gen X, Facebook may be a good bet.

Well thought out budgets allocations and efficient pricing

It is important to determine exactly how much budget you have to spend over the life of a campaign.  This will help you determine the best strategy for spending to hit the largest number of people in your target efficiently and effectively under your given budget parameters.  If your budgets are small and your goal is mass reach, you may want to target your budget to one planform with efficient pricing to effectively hit your target versus spreading your budget between a few content partners but not making as big of an impact.

Always remember that each campaign is a learning opportunity.  Some campaigns will work well on the first try, and others will take some trial and error.  However, if you strive to have excellent research, brilliant strategy, great creative and brand messaging, the right content partners, and well thought out budget allocations and efficient pricing—you will surely hit your campaign goals, ending with a successful Digital Marketing Campaign.
